NATURALLY DIFFERENT…
FOR A SUSTAINABLE, LIVABLE FUTURE!
We made our decision long ago…
For sustainably designed products — across the entire value chain, from raw material sourcing to manufacturing.
Our footprint is GREEN!
CERTIFIED SUSTAINABILITY
DÖPFNER ECO-FOOTPRINT.

OUR FOOTPRINT IS BEAUTIFULLY GREEN!
Some facts about the ECO-FOOTPRINT certification:
DÖPFNER is now the first window manufacturer in Germany, that has achieved a product-specific, scientifically based ECO-FOOTPRINT rating for its entire range of wood and wood-aluminium window elements.
The ECO-FOOTPRINT is a holistic Umwelt-Fußabdruck that makes the overall ecological impact of different window frame materials — such as wood, aluminium, and PVC — effectively and reliably comparable, from raw material extraction to production.
By the way: the visual similarity to the already known energy ratings of electrical appliances is intentional!
The new Umwelt-Fußabdruck provides ratings of various environmental aspects in the form of an intuitively understandable traffic-light system, from green to red — from A to E.
A DÖPFNER spruce wood window achieves grade 1, while a PVC-aluminium window only reaches grade 4.
Always transparent! Honest! No greenwashing!
The ratings are based on solid scientific analysis
(developed by BS Umweltberatung, Dr. Bruckner & Dr. Strohmeier).

Jungle wood? No thanks
Because at DÖPFNER we think naturally different…
Already more than 10 years ago, we at DÖPFNER decided not to use any tropical wood species (meranti, sipo, teak, etc.) – and we are still convinced that this was the only right decision.
In many Asian, African, and South American countries, wood is still harvested from primary forests (jungles) – even with government approval! This wood reaches the European market – with or without forest certification labels (PEFC, FSC, etc.).
Likewise, DÖPFNER does not use Siberian larch in its windows, because unfortunately 80% of Siberian larch is illegally logged in boreal primary forests! The Siberian primeval forests are an indispensable “green lung” – storing about 70% of the CO2 emissions of Russia and Europe.
We fully rely on sustainably managed forestry and use only native wood species (spruce, European larch, oak) of the highest quality and from regional, certified sustainably sourced suppliers with short transport routes.

The climate and environmental label
HOLZ VON HIER (HVH) is a recognized environmental certification according to ISO 14024..
Less is more!
Fewer kilometers.
Lower CO2 emissions.
Less energy consumption.
Less exploitation of our environment!
Products with the HOLZ VON HIER environmental label guarantee that the roundwood used in the product comes 100% from sustainable forestry.
This is verified and documented through forest management certificates (FM-FSC, FM-PEFC, or equivalent). No wood from primary forests or globally endangered tree species is permitted.
